面临挑战
The existing landscape was largely lawn, which in the region's arid climate absorbed a large share of the estate's water budget. Some trees were also declining from irrigation water salinity.
解决方案
The scheme was revised: lawn was confined to functional areas near buildings and the rest replanted with drought- and salt-tolerant native species. Irrigation moved from sprinkler to drip, and a gypsum-based soil remediation programme was carried out.
实施成效
Annual water demand fell 55% and first-year plant losses stayed below 5%. Annual maintenance costs also dropped appreciably.
